Become a Trustee

Become a Trustee: Share Your Skills, Shape Your Community

Trustees are a group of unpaid volunteers who sit on the board of a charity, organisation or group and decide how the group is run.
Volunteering as a trustee is different to most other forms of volunteering as trustees have overall control of an organisation and are responsible for ensuring it is working as intended.

Becoming a trustee will generally require you to attend regular meetings, normally monthly to six-weekly, to discuss ongoing matters within the organisation and provide your skills and experience. You may also choose to attend additional meetings or pick up extra work between meetings.
As the time commitment is normally relatively small, being a trustee is a good fit for professionals or those with busy lives. Organisations are often looking for trustees who can bring a unique perspective to their board and you may already have skills, knowledge or experience that organisations are looking for.

On this page you will find trustee opportunities with organisations across Leeds including the time commitment required and examples of skills / experience they are looking for. You can apply by clicking ‘Apply now’ but most organisations will be happy to arrange an informal chat if you’d like to find out more.
