Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark

Show that your volunteer programme demonstrates best practice

About Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark

The Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark (known as Kitemark until 2021) is certification for organisations to show that they meet a high standard of volunteering best practice.
It was developed by Voluntary Action Leeds (VAL) and the Volunteer Managers Network through the Volunteer Centre Leeds, to show that an organisation meets the principles set out in the Leeds Compact for Promoting Volunteering and follows the Leeds Compact Promoting Volunteering Basic Toolkit.

What is the Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark?

The Quality Mark is a certificate awarded to organisations that show that their volunteering programmes follow the principles that have been agreed as good practice in the Compact for Leeds. It is valid for two years, after which an organisation would need to apply again to ensure that standards are maintained.

Why should my organisation apply to be accredited?

The Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark is recognition by Leeds City Council and Voluntary Action Leeds that your organisation manages a volunteering programme where volunteers receive a high-quality and positive volunteering experience.

Volunteer Centre Leeds promotes this quality mark throughout the city and uses it to help volunteers to make informed choices about which organisation to apply to.

The application process

The application process is straightforward but requires organisations to supply copies of documents which detail their policies and procedures to show that they have a robust volunteer programme.

We ask that you complete the application form and provide all of the documentation detailed on the checklist within the form.

When you have all the evidence together, you can email or post it to us with your application form for consideration.

Email: volunteering@val.org.uk  or post to the Voluntary Action Leeds office at Stringer House, Hunslet, Leeds, LS102QR, FAO (for the attention of) Volunteer Centre Leeds.

Who is the awarding body?

Volunteer Centre Leeds, a project of VAL, is the organising body who certifies organisations with the Leeds Volunteering Quality Mark and meets regularly with members of the Leeds Volunteer Managers Network to judge applications.
