Now Open | Jimbo’s Fund

Jimbo’s Fund is now open for applications!

Jimbo’s Fund was set up by generous local businessman, Jimi Heselden, to support people experiencing adversity in Leeds. Jimi tragically passed away in an accident in 2010, but the fund continues his legacy via support for community organisations.

Key information

  • Grants of £1K to £20K available per year over 3 years (fixed length)
  • The applicant needs to evidence their track record in Leeds and must have been operating for at least two-years
  • Funds will support people overcoming adversity and applicants need to outline how they are addressing the need(s) of people they support
  • Projects supporting people in LS8, LS9, LS14 and LS15 are particularly encouraged
  • The amount requested should be at least 50% of the total cost of the activity
  • Only one application per organisation can be considered
  • We actively welcome more applications from, or benefiting, people under-represented in our grant making, for example LGBTQIA+, racially minoritised, d/Deaf or disabled people

Applications need to clearly demonstrate:

  • Local people/participants have been consulted and the proposal responds to their need(s)
  • The applicant organisation must demonstrate a track-record of working with communities in Leeds
  • We appreciate that many community organisations may wish to seek support towards keeping their community spaces open, alongside more targeted support for people experiencing food and fuel poverty, and other adverse effects of the Cost-of-Living crisis
  • Past funded activity includes: supporting asylum seekers with food and clothing; helping families access baby essentials, such as cots and bedding; street-level youth work for young people disengaged from mainstream services

Due to oversubscription, we will prioritise groups that have not been previously funded.

Grant Size: £1,000 to £20,000 per year for 3 years
Location: Leeds
Duration: Fixed at 3 years
Application Deadline: 26/11/2024 at 12 noon
Decisions: April 2025
