Roadblock Sound System launches Crowdfunder for off-grid community project in Armley

Roadblock CIC, a local group pioneering bike-powered, off-grid sound systems, has launched its first-ever crowdfunder campaign. They are aiming to raise £12,000 to design and build a new sustainable, off-grid machine with the local community in Armley, Leeds.

Roadblock’s first machine, built in 2019, uses cycle power and batteries to provide music, lights and entertainment wherever people need it across Leeds. In this new project, they will work with New Wortley Community Association and local residents to imagine, design and then build a new piece of off-grid community infrastructure.

The project is set to run from November 2024 to January 2025 and is supported by Leeds City Council, the University of Leeds, and Climate Action Leeds.
