Support Woodhouse Community Centre – new roof fundraiser

Woodhouse Community Centre, in the heart of LS6, is YOUR local community centre.
Run by the charity Oblong, we provide resources and support to the local communities of Woodhouse and Little London. We provide groups, activities, volunteering, an IT Suite, and other resources to help people improve their own lives.
Here are just SOME of the things we do!
* We are open Monday to Thursday 10-4, providing an IT Suite, volunteering, groups and activities
* A weekly ESOL English class that’s open to everybody
* We support the volunteer-run Seva lunch club, which feeds 100+ people a week
* We offer volunteering opportunities for local people, so they can learn skills and get involved in their local community
* Free Mental Health Peer Support groups, like Headspace, which people can attend without a waiting list
* An acute needs service, helping people to access food and resources
* We help local people start their own groups and activities, based on what they’d like to see happening in their own community
* Room hire for local groups and organisations
Everybody is welcome at the centre. We have over 1,000 visitors a month, and we are working towards becoming a trauma-informed organisation. This means we’ll welcome people no matter what has happened to them in the past, and do everything we can to help everybody feel safe, secure, and respected.
Visitors say they love how welcoming and friendly we are. We run groups and activities Monday to Thursday, and we keep the centre open all week through, including evenings and weekends. The centre is thriving, with hundreds of visitors coming every week. That’s a lot of tea and coffee!
Your support will help us continue to run the centre for the good of the community. Every donation will help us buy tea and coffee to help visitors feel welcome; pay volunteer expenses, for example for our ESOL volunteers; it helps by contributing towards the upkeep of our beautiful, but very old, building; and in winter, your contribution will help us keep the centre warm and toasty for all of our Seva lunch club diners.
By contributing, you’re helping us keep the centre running, and providing much needed support for groups like our community cafe, community-led arts groups, and more.
Share your love
