18 May | Yorkshire Ability Triathlon

Date: 18 May 2025
Time: 10 am onwards
Location: Leeds Beckett University, Carnegie Sports Centre, Headingley LS6 3QQ

The Yorkshire Ability Triathlon will take place at Leeds Beckett University’s Headingley Campus, who as a founding sponsor, have given exclusive access to their amazing sports facilities. Volunteers will also be ready to assist, while additional facilities like quiet rooms will be available for participants to step away from the event and decompress if needed.

Focused on children aged 6-18 with neurodivergent and physical disabilities, the day is all about participation and showing young people that sport and activity is for everybody.

And you don’t need lots of fancy, expensive kit to get involved. Whether it’s swimming a short distance or completing full lengths, pedalling a specially adapted bike or cycling around the track, running a lap or getting pushed around in a chair, all entrants get a real triathlon experience and move at their own pace to the finish line.

The Yorkshire Ability Triathlon is a relaxed event based around swimming, cycling, and running for disabled children and young people.

Alternative activities will be available for those unable to take part in all three disciplines. There are no specific distances or times, it’s all about having fun and trying something new.

Family and friends are very welcome to join in with the fun!

The main activities include:

  • Swimming – This can  be getting in the pool and walking around or swimming lengths. If you don’t fancy swimming there will be an alternative activity.
  • Cycling – Ride or scoot your way around the circuit. There will be some bikes provided, including adapted bikes.
  • Running – This could be a relaxed walk, a steady jog, a run or however you want to complete this.

Entries are £10 per person. To enter, sign up on their website: https://www.yorkshireabilitytriathlon.co.uk/enter
