December | Festive ‘relaxed’ Autistic and Dementia Friendly sessions at Harewood

Harewood has adapted their offer to suit a wider range of visitors this festive season.

These afternoon sessions are primarily for families with autistic children, autistic adults and young people, adults living with dementia, and visitors with any other sensory needs or those with mental health issues who may benefit from a calmer environment.

About Mischief at the Mansion: A troop of not-so-angelic cherubs have escaped from the Christmas tree and Harewood House sparkles into life with singing baubles, swirling ceilings and gossiping statues. Marvel as the House tells you festive tales of bygone times, in an unforgettable experience that will delight visitors of all ages.

Scheduled Dates

The Relaxed Festive Afternoons will be taking place on the following dates:

  • Wed 4 Dec
  • Wed 11 Dec
  • Wed 18 Dec

The relaxed slots will be available at 4 pm and 4.30 pm on the above dates. Please note last entry into the House is 5 pm, during the festive season.

During Relaxed Afternoons, the following adaptations will be made to the House:

  • Any loud noises from televisions and speakers will be turned down where possible
  • Friendly staff will be available to support your visit and answer any questions you may have (they will keep an eye out for sunflower lanyards)
  • Sensory Bags will be available for adults and children to borrow, which include ear defenders, torch and sensory toys + fidgets.
  • A quiet space is available for use
  • Large-print laminated text sheets of the exhibition script are available upon request at the entrance hall desk

Tickets can be booked via their website: Harewood Relaxed Festive Afternoons

A range of promotions and discounts including £2 income support / refugee status tickets are also available.
