Inclusivity and Equity in Volunteering – Toolkit and Resources

The Leeds Volunteer Managers Network has launched the Inclusive Volunteering page on Doing Good Leeds with toolkit and resources.

The page has been developed by the Leeds Volunteer Managers Network (coordinated by VAL) and is your one-stop shop for inclusive volunteering practice.

This collection of materials aims to support Leeds organisations to celebrate, encourage and enable diversity in volunteering. The page includes:

  • Inclusive Volunteering Principles – you can sign up to these and make a pledge.
  • Inclusive Volunteering Toolkit – practical tips, an inclusivity index, and tools to help you design an inclusive volunteering offer.
  • Resources – a curated selection of external links and resources to boost your knowledge further.

A note from Andrina Dawson, VAL

“A huge thank you to the Volunteer Managers’ Network members, the Leeds Volunteering Strategy task and finish group and my team here at VAL for all of their support and contributions to shaping good practice resources, demonstrating that Leeds is committed to creating an accessible volunteering offer for our diverse communities.

When we designed the strategy, key aspirations have been to create a volunteering offer that is inclusive, creates equity and have a volunteer base that is diverse and represents the communities that we work with. In a fairly short time we have made real progress towards achieving this aspiration. This [webpage] brings together all of these resources, I hope that you find them useful in shaping your practice and in showing our collective commitment to inclusivity.”

Hear more from Andrina as she shares some of the thinking around inclusive practice in volunteering in this blog: Inclusive Volunteering Interview with Andrina.
