Leeds Autism AIM: PIP Guides

The Autism AIM team, part of The Advonet Group, have produced a range of free guides to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for autistic adults.

Made by autistic members of the AIM staff team who have lived experience of going through the PIP process, the guides cover a range of topics. They include:

• Starting a PIP claim
• How the applicant’s disability affects them
• Assessments
• Understanding a PIP award
• Appeals
• Renewing PIP

There are also four supplementary guides, which cover mental wellbeing, evidence, definitions and reasonable adjustments. Information in the guides applies nationally, so can be useful for any autistic adult applying for the benefit. They work as both self-help guides and as guides professionals can use when working with autistic adults.

All guides can be downloaded as PDFs from the Leeds Autism AIM website. To see them, please click on this link: https://leedsautismaim.org.uk/resources/pip-guides/.

If you have any questions about the guide, please email the Autism AIM – Mental Health Equity Project team at yaamhep@advonet.org.uk.

Please note that AIM is not able to support anyone with PIP themselves. On the link above, there are links to organisations in Leeds who can help.
