Government Plans to Cut Healthwatch – Local Response

Healthwatch Leeds has published a public response following the government’s proposal to abolish Healthwatch.

Forum Central is concerned to hear about the proposed closure of Healthwatch England. Healthwatch Leeds is a valuable and integrated service within the city and this would have a huge impact on the health and care sector as well as local people and communities.

Their statement details the value of the organisation, the potential impact of losing this vital support and their intended next steps as an organisation, however, it is important to note that it is still business as usual within this financial year. It’s also great to see the local support that has been shown for Healthwatch Leeds.

It is important to acknowledge the valuable work that Healthwatch has carried out including the ‘How does it feel for me’ videos, their recently published GP website accessibility summary report, and their Health Inequalities papers. All of which, can be found on their website: Healthwatch Leeds
