Empower and Employ: Interview Skills and Inclusive Hiring
Leeds Community Foundation has funded Advonet – Learning Disability Projects Team to develop a new project called ‘Empower and Employ: Interview Skills and Inclusive Hiring’.
The Learning Disability Projects Team working alongside Asking You! is an organisation based within The Advonet Group focusing on championing people with learning disabilities voices using a self-advocacy approach.
Employment support for people with learning disabilities is sorely needed. The latest report from Royal Mencap shows that 4.1% of people with learning disabilities are in paid employment, compared to 51% of disabled people overall. This is a 1.6% fall from the previous figures. To improve this, we will be delivering interview skills workshops for 35 people with learning disabilities and partnering with 4 employers to offer mock interview and shadowing opportunities.
