10 September | Leeds Baton of Hope

On Wednesday 10 September 2025, Leeds will proudly host the Baton of Hope Tour, coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day.

The Baton of Hope is a powerful national campaign, symbolising awareness, remembrance, and hope around suicide prevention. Like the Olympic torch, it travels from city to city – but instead of celebrating sport, it celebrates mental health, community strength, and recovery.

About the day

  • 84 Baton Bearers – people affected by or bereaved by suicide – will carry the baton across Leeds.

  • The route will visit a range of locations that promote wellbeing, including parks, community centres, creative spaces, and events marking World Suicide Prevention Day.

  • The journey ends with a finale event in East Leeds, sharing a collective message of hope and thanks.

This is an opportunity for the whole city to come together, remember those we have lost, and show commitment to supporting one another.
