Background

The NHS 111 mental health option was introduced nationally from April 2024.
People of all ages in West Yorkshire are able to access local crisis services directly by calling 111 and selecting the mental health option or using the online service.
The NHS 111 number is in use across England as a universal point of access for people experiencing mental health crisis. Anyone can call NHS 111 for themselves or someone else and have 24/7 access to the mental health crisis support they need in the community. This is not an emergency service. In a mental health emergency people should call 999.

For more information, visit the NHS webpage: Where to get urgent help for mental health

Get help from 111 online or call 111 and select the mental health option.

Changes to LYPFT’s Single Point of Access

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s (LYPFT) Single Point of Access (SPA) phone number is no longer in use – callers will be asked to redial 111.

Specially trained mental health staff will speak to callers using the 111 service , discuss their urgent needs, and assess the best way to support them. Callers will be assessed, triaged, and referred to services including crisis services provided by LYPFT where needed.
