Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Group for Staff Wellbeing

The Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, in partnership with the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership, is offering a valuable opportunity for staff, volunteers, and students working within health and social care in the West Yorkshire region.

The Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Group is a dedicated workshop to support mental health and wellbeing through evidence-based techniques.

About the Workshops

This group uses an experiential approach to help participants explore how mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies can support their mental health. It primarily draws on two approaches within the third wave of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT):

– Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
– Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

The course has a growing body of evidence for its effectiveness, and mindfulness is recommended for managing work stress by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).

What You’ll Gain

Participants will develop practical tools to manage stress, promote wellbeing, and improve focus on the present moment. Key areas of focus include:

– Connecting with the here and now
– Identifying, understanding, and working through thoughts and feelings
– Learning to move towards what is important in life

Who’s Leading the Sessions?

The group will be delivered by Paul Parker and Ross Ashton, psychological therapists with the West Yorkshire Psychological Assessment Service.
