About the Programme

In 2021, the Future in Mind Strategy consultations with families, young people and professionals in Leeds identified the impact of trauma as a priority for action.

As a result, the Trauma Informed Work in Communities Programme was established in 2022 to support strands of the Compassionate Leeds strategy: collaboration with communities and partners, and prevention, and to Leed’s ambition to become trauma-informed for children, young people and families.

“Our ambitious vision is for partners in Leeds to work collectively as a trauma-informed city where we realise the widespread and unequal impact of adversity and recognise the part we can each play in overcoming this. Through nurturing relationships and building strengths, we hope that all babies, children, young people and those who care for them will feel

The Trauma Informed Work in Communities grants programme in Leeds was funded by Leeds Health and Care Partnership (Leeds ICB) and Leeds Community Foundation and was coordinated by Volition, Forum Central.

Learning from the Grantholders

The 11 organisations worked closely with the Young Person’s Development and Engagement Lead at Volition, Forum Central to think about their work with children and young people and the importance of working in a trauma-informed way.

A big thank you to the 11 organisations for taking part in this programme and being incredibly generous with their insights and learning over the last couple of years.

You can find more information on their reflections by reading the learning briefings published at intervals over the course of the programme. Visit: Trauma Informed Communities – Forum Central.
