10-11 September | ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

Date: 10 and 11 September 2025 (2 day course)
Time: 8.30 – 16.30
Location: TBC

To teach Suicide First Aid skills to raise confidence and knowledge and to familiarise participants with the most widely used suicide intervention model in the world

At the end of the two-day course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the ways personal and societal attitudes affect views on suicide and
    interventions
  • Provide guidance and suicide first-aid to a person at risk in ways that meet their individual
    safety needs
  • Identify the key elements of an effective suicide safety plan and the actions required to
    implement it
  • Appreciate the value of improving and integrating suicide prevention resources in the
    community at large
  • Recognize other important aspects of suicide prevention including life-promotion and self-care

Recognised by the Department of Health, ASIST is fast becoming an essential tool for all community caregivers.  This is a two-day course that aims to break down stereotypes and misinformation about suicide and gives participants an evidence-based approach to those at risk.  Participants will have a chance to analyse their own views about suicide, they will be introduced to
the intervention model and given opportunities to observe and practise skills in effective suicide intervention.
