National Insurance Contribution Letter to Chancellor and Local MP’s

Third Sector Leeds (TSL) has written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and local MPs, calling for an exemption from the upcoming increases to Employers National Insurance Contributions (ENICs) for the third sector. These changes, set to come into effect in April 2025, are expected to place a significant financial burden on local charities and community organisations, which are already facing considerable challenges due to rising demand and costs.

In our letter, we stress the vital role that the third sector plays in supporting vulnerable communities in Leeds. Without tailored financial support or exemptions, many organisations will come under considerable pressure.

We are inviting local MPs to meet with TSL’s Leadership Group in February 2024 to discuss this issue and other key concerns for the sector. Organisations across Leeds are welcome to use this letter as a template for their own communications with MPs. If you have any questions, or would like to share other work happening across the city around the ENIC increase, please contact megan.russell@val.org.uk in the first instance.
