10 April | Lunch and Learn Event for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

This is an opportunity to connect with other organisations who are providing support to underserved communities and talk about the work Ovacome are doing to reduce health inequalities. Ovacome is the national ovarian cancer support charity, who work to support anyone affected by the disease and want to raise awareness of the symptoms of the disease in the community.

The signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer are vague and not well understood, so it is often diagnosed late.  There is no national screening programme for ovarian cancer, and a cervical smear test will not detect it.  We know that people who are older, have English as a second language, are from an ethnic minority, live in areas of deprivation, have disabilities, are refugees or asylum seekers face even more barriers to accessing diagnosis, treatment and support.

Ovacome want to work with key community partners who have in depth local knowledge, and  support you to deliver information in a variety of formats and languages.
