17 July | Women’s Health Matters at Work

Date: 17 July 2025
Time: 8 am – 2 pm
Location: Venue TBC (Central Leeds)

This session is designed to help employers and managers support their employees and colleagues through major life challenges – such as infertility, baby loss, and menopause – fostering a more understanding and inclusive workplace.

Delivered by Sarah Banks, a qualified personal development coach, and author of the bestselling IVF Positivity Planner, and the Menopause Positivity Planner. She has been working in the field of fertility for 8 years, raising the awareness of infertility and the need for support, and she is the co-author of the EFS Fertility Patients Care Guidance.

Sarah provides training to fertility professionals across the world, helping them create a strong emotional support service and she runs numerous online and face to face support groups, providing much needed peer understanding and support. She also partners with organisations to provide support for management and employees navigating fertility treatment and menopause, offering training sessions, workshops, and strategy sessions to promote employee well-being and productivity in the workplace.

Key Takeaways from the session:

Navigating Awkward Conversations – Learn how to approach sensitive topics with empathy, respect privacy, and offer meaningful support. This session will cover not only what not to say, but also the right words to use in these situations.

Understanding Emotional Impact – Major life challenges like infertility, miscarriage, and menopause affect employees in different ways, leading to stress, anxiety, and isolation. You’ll gain insight into how these experiences impact women, men, different ethnicities, and same-sex couples.

Creating a Supportive Workplace – Discover practical strategies to foster open conversations, implement clear policies, and provide manager training that makes employees feel valued, supported, and included.

The Power of Empathy – Thoughtful communication, avoiding harmful comments, and providing emotional support are key to building a workplace culture where employees feel safe to share their challenges.

Actionable Strategies & Tools – You’ll leave with tangible takeaways, including action plans and real-life tools to implement in your workplace. Through role-play exercises and scenario-based learning, you’ll gain hands-on experience in handling these conversations effectively.
