All third sector advocates are invited to attend this Third Sector Workshop hosted by Leeds City Council, Third Sector Leeds and Forum Central

The workshop is focused on the ‘Best City Ambition’ and what it means for the third sector.

Leeds City Council is currently refreshing the Best City Ambition, and this workshop is a key opportunity for the third sector to help shape that process. Together, we’ll explore how the Ambition can better reflect the sector’s priorities, strengthen collaboration, and support the leadership and impact of third sector organisations across the city.

What’s the Best City Ambition?

This is the name for the collective ambition for Leeds to be the Best City in the UK – “where we work together in partnership to achieve our goals, proud of our strengths and track record of success, but focused fiercely on tackling poverty and reducing inequalities wherever we can”. There are currently three pillars of the Best City Ambition: health and wellbeing, inclusive growth, and zero carbon. To achieve these, the ‘Team Leeds’ approach has been developed, which is a way of different partners working together and supporting one another. You can read more about Team Leeds, and the Best City Ambition here.

Workshop agenda

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Best City Ambition context – an overview of progress so far and the direction of the refresh
  • Breakout room discussions exploring:
  • Team Leeds approach – exploring how our ways of working align with third sector values, and how we can strengthen collaborative leadership
  • City priorities – discussing whether the three-pillar framework reflects third sector strategy priorities, and identifying gaps or areas for development
  • Adopting the Ambition – how we can collectively acknowledge and support the sector’s role in Leeds becoming the best city in the UK, and opportunities to showcase impact
