Relaunch of the Access and Use-Ability Group (AUAG)

Leeds City Council, as part of the Disability Inclusive Leeds programme, will be relaunching the Access and Use-Ability Group (AUAG) on Tuesday 9 September 2025.

AUAG is a panel of disabled people who come together with council departments (like Highways and transport, Planning, and City Development) and other developers to review schemes looking specifically at access and helping to shape Leeds so it works for everyone.

In the past, AUAG played a key role in major projects such as Leeds Playhouse, and projects helping improve public spaces, transport hubs and toilet provision (including Changing Places toilets). Whilst we know there’s lots still to do, the positive impact of past AUAG involvement shows how valuable it is to undertake meaningful engagement with disabled people.  We know this is an ongoing journey, and we are committed to continuing to work together.

How it works

  • This is a volunteer role for disabled people living in Leeds, 18 or over.
  • We will meet four times a year and meetings will be hybrid, which means you can join online or in person.
  • You can take part in a flexible way – choosing the topics that interest you most.
  • At the first meeting, we will talk through how the group works and introduce upcoming projects/ schemes we can get involved in.

Who can join

Whether you were part of AUAG before or not we would love to hear from you.

To register your interest, please email us at AUAG@leeds.gov.uk, please tell us:

  • Your name and contact details (email/phone)
  • Any access needs you have, so we can support you fully

Help us spread the word

We want AUAG to reflect the diversity of our city. So please help us by passing this invite on to others who may be interested. We are especially keen to hear from people from all backgrounds, ages, and with a range of disabilities.

Share your love
